Your Baby Can Read- One Week In
We are only watching the video once a day but are working on getting up to the recommended 2 times or more. We do go over the pull cards and flip book several times a day because Dominic really enjoys them.
Your Baby Can Read- The Begining
Ok so here is an addition to Naps and Nipples, Your Baby Can Read Updates. Recently Dominic and I started the Your Baby Can Read program and have been updating friends and family through notes on facebook. It just dawned on me, "Um Shelli you need to do updates on Naps and Nipples too!"
So here is the start of YBCR updates:
Today I got in the Your Baby Can Read program in the mail. Right away I put in the parents starter DVD and much to my surprise found out I knew more about teaching my child then I thought. According to Dr. Bob theories and methods I have done a good job so far with Dominic. Some of the keys concepts are repeating a word and showing the word. Also questioning. For instance when the child wants something don't just go get it ask them about it give them a few choices to choose from also narrating your day. We are going to take a bath, going for a walk an so forth. We have always done that which is why Dominic knows what I mean when I say do you want to take a bath, would you like some cereal, wheres doggie. Another key point in child development is getting excited when your child makes a sound that resembles a word. Dr. Bob said that when you get excited about when your child makes a word like sound for example Ba ( he said bottle!) you are giving that sound a value which tells the child what he did is important and makes them want to do it more and try new sounds. I am one of those overly excited parents who gets excited about his new "word" all the time.
I am super excited to read through my parents starter guide book and watch the first DVD with Dominic. This program may not work for us but I already think the $14.95 trial fee is well worth the money because I feel better about my parenting skills and am more confident that I can teach my child properly. I honestly believe if I stick with this program it will work for us but we will have to give it a try to see pig I am right. I am going to try to keep y'all updated on our progress because I know several of my parent friends have been wondering about this program.
Well we are off to eat some cereal and then will start the program wish us luck and stay tuned...

Nov 12th & Nov 13th
Dominic was a very good boy today. He sat and played while Mommy cleaned up the Livingroom. Unfortunately Dominic is still scared to death of the vacuum cleaner. We are working on getting him over that. At first he was scared of the food processor, the sound bothered him. We broke this by picking him up and taking him over to the processor and showing him it wasn't hurting him. I tried with the vacuum but it didn't work. He did touch it when it was off so that is a start.
Unlike yesterday Dominic would not give us kisses. Not even his Mommy. He wouldn't let us kiss him he would turn his head away. I guess he got too many yesterday!
November 13th:
While Mommy was doing laundry Dominic was being a very good little helper... well he thought he was. He took the clothes out of the basket and tried to give them back to me. He also took all my hangers and moved them out of my way haha so he thought. He was very entertained with the hangers.
Today for solid foods all Dominic wanted was Squash and Vanilla wafers. He had them for lunch, dinner and as one of his snacks!!
Speaking of snacks today Mommy made Dominic his own trail mix. Mommy put mini vanilla wafers, whole grain cheerios, veggie baby cheetos, and 2 flavors of yogurt drops. Dominic likes each of these snacks and I try to change what I give him each day so he doesn't get bored with an particular snack. With the trail mix he picks out what he wants eats it and goes back for more. It was fun to watch him pick and choose and get excited by what he eats!

November 11th: My Dorky Boy
During Lunch Mommy made her some fries. When it was time to take them out of the deep fryer I put Dominic in his PNP which made him very mad. I went ahead and took out my fries and while getting everything together I noticed Dominic stopped crying and laughing. I looked over to find the strangest and funnest thing! Dominic was standing up and had come out of his pants!!!
I laughed so hard grabbed my phone and hollered at Dominic was able to snap this super cute picture!!
Later in the evening Dominic was being a little sweetheart. When Mommy kisses him on the cheek I say kiss. Today when I did this he turned his head opened his mouth wide and stuck it on my check. This is how he kisses. Mommy told him "Thank You," and kissed his other cheek. Once again he kissed me back. He repeated this 3 times before he got sidetracked by a toy. I told Daddy all about the kisses when he got home. He sat down kissed Dominic and just as I had done said Kiss when he did so. I was expecting him to kiss his Daddy back but that little monster turned his head away from his Daddy and had the biggest smile on his face. Daddy tried again and Dominic turned his head away again with that goofy grin. Sometimes our little man is quite the stinker!!!

Nov 10th
Nov 10th:
Today the whole family went shopping. Dominic was a very good boy. He did try to grab a few items he believed we needed. Dominic entertained himself most of the shopping trip by banging on the chip bags. Thankfully it was Daddy's lunch mini bags of lunch chips so they were double bagged.
We dis try a new combination for Dominic's cereal this morning. Cinnamon apple oatmeal and he absolutely loved it!!

Thursday, November 11, 2010
First off Dominic slept 9 hours with only one wake up and with a little soothing he went right back to sleep. The best part is Mommy got to sleep 6 solid hours!! I woke up several hours before everyone refreshed.
Dominic and Mommy went for a walk today. We walked to the library which is a little over 4 blocks. On our way back we stopped off at diary queen where Daddy meet up with us and Dominic and I shared a Sunday! We then went to the store picked up some groceries and back to home we went.
This wore Dominic out and he took a little nap while Mommy and Daddy played a game. We had a great day!!!!
Sunday, November 7, 2010
Dominic smiled up at me today and I noticed something... Another Tooth!!! My baby boy is getting in his second tooth. It us barely visible you can just see the top coming through. This tooth explains why he wouldn't eat solids yesterday it must have hurt but never acted like it did.
Dominic did eat a little bit of solids today. He did have his oatmeal cereal with bananas. For lunch he had his nasty mixture of peas and apricots until he got mad at Mommy. After about half the bowl Mommy took a napkin and cleaned off his messy face. Apparently he didn't think he needed this done bc he got down right mad at me. Once he got upset he refused to eat, Dominic has a temper at times. Mommy tried to get him to eat but gave up and ended up making a bottle about 20 minutes later. My sweet little boy can be a monster sometimes!!
Nov 6
First off Dominic did not go to sleep until 4 am this morning!
Today was a great family day. While in town we ate at Long John's and of course that meant Mommy had to take pics of Dominic in the pirate hat!
When we got home the whole family played together and had a great night!
The only downfall was Dominic would not eat any solids today not even his banana cereal which is very odd!

Starting again... Nov 1st-Nov 5th
I will say some days may be more of a facebook status/tweeter update kinda post. What I mean by that is there are days that are "same ol' same ol'" so on these days I may just state something simple. Other days are full of crazy silly stories and exciting development occurrences. Dominic is growing and developing so much lately. It is so exciting and half the time I can't keep calm with all my excitement. You can ask my poor husband who has been woken up many nights to come see the new tooth, or watch him do something he hasn't done before. Being the good Daddy he is most nights he pulls himself out out of bed and half asleep indulges me in my uncontainable excitement!
In future post I may not post corresponding pics that night when I initially do the post. I will try to hope on a least once a week and put on those pictures. When I do I will have a *NOTE at the top of the next post stating that I added pictures and will post the link below for quick clicking to see the updates.
Ok here goes on my new start to Naps and Nipples, I hope you continue to enjoy and please feel free to comment, and send me messages on facebook to remind me if I forget haha which sad to say with my Mushy Mommy Brain may very well happen!
Nov 1st:
Today Dominic decided he was going to help Mommy with the laundry. Daily I try to keep up with laundry which sadly doesn't always happen. I have recently found that if I put him in his saucer or his bumbo he "allows" me to get a least a load done if I give him a few toys and some clothes to occupy his time. When I say give him some clothes I mean I get one of the empty clothes baskets put in a towel or article of clothing into that basket and let Dominic "help" Mommy with the laundry. My little stinker especially likes it when I put folded clothes in the basket because he then "corrects my folding" haha ok he unfolds it munches on it and then toses it aside for me to wash again. I know it may sound tedious to wash the clothes more than once but when you find something that makes an infant/toddler happy you do whatever it takes to keep that happiness going!
Dominic normally loves his veggies, infact until we tried meats he loved every kind of baby we tried. I recently started making my own baby food. I thought maybe the Jared to Fresh caused Dominic to no longer like it veggies but after researching and asking many friends and family I found out it is normally for kids Dominic age to go anti-veggie. I am trying every thing I can think of and hopefully soon he will get back on his veggie kick.
Speaking of Veggies while going through some next size up baby clothes I found a cute little sweet pea costume I had orginally bought for me niece but obviously never sent it to her. Once I looked at it and realized Dominic could fit in it I had to put it on him. Not surprisingly it wouldn't zip over his big ol' head but other than that it was all too cute. I brought him to his Daddy whom shook his head in silliness, to take pictures of my little pea. I took so many but only a few came out because he would not stop bouncing. (Dominic's favorite thing to do besides stand on his own) I am happy to say those that did turn out where OH SO ADORABLE!! My poor son will one day look back at me and think "Mom!! What were you thinking?!?" but that is all part of a Mother's job... embarrass the children!!
As you can tell today was very eventful and the end of the day was not much different. When Daddy decided to head to bed we followed him in there to say goodnight. Dominic was sitting on the bed talking to his Daddy when Daddy started mocking all Dominic's sounds. Evertime Daddy would do this Dominic would respond with a loud and longer sound and would lean in to show he meant business. This went on for nearly 20 minutes. Mommy was laughing so hard I thought I was going to roll off the bed. I wish I could describe this well enough for you to fully understand how funny and intriguing this little incident was.
Nov 2nd:
Dominic made Mommy proud today. On his saucer he has a bee that when you pull on him comes out of his hive and then goes back in. Now this bee is hard to pull out and Dominic has never been able to do this. While picking up the living room I had placed Dominic in his saucer to play. (and stay in one place haha) As I walked into the kitchen I heard the sound the bee makes when he goes back in his hive. I kinda hid behind the couch to watch as Dominic would pull the bee out and stare as it went back in. He would get all excited and do it again over and over again. Finally he noticed Mommy and smiled up at me with his super sweet smile. After that he lost interest and moved on to another toy on his saucer. I was so proud of him and amazed, just yesterday he couldn't do that. It is so amazing how quickly they learn and figure things out!!
I am not sure if Dominic was teething or just worn out but today Dominic only ate his morning cereal and didn't want any other solids. He took several bottles which as of late is unusual for him. He also could seem to be able to stay awake he took 4 naps but each nap was only about 20 minutes each. Normally Dominic fights and fights sleep but at one point he was sitting up on the couch with me when he crawled to my lap laid his head down on my lap and fell right to sleep. It was so sweet but I knew that meant he was super exhausted.
Nov 3rd:
While in the bath tonight Dominic did the cutest thing.... he tried to grab the bubbles produced from his baby wash. These bubbles where tiny and barely visible. I didn't even notice them until I couldn't figure out what Dominic was grabbing at in the water. I looked closely and realized it was the bubbles he was trying to pick up. How cute is that??
Late tonight about 11pm Dominic and I started to play ball. We recently got him a mini basketball so I could start to teach him how to play "baby catch." Baby catch is rolling the ball back and forth. I had tried this a few times since we got the ball a week ago but Dominic would keep the ball and go about his business. Tonight that all changed!! I rolled the ball to him and said "Can you give it back to Mommy." When I said this Dominic grabbed the ball with both hands and pushed it towards me like " Here you go Mommy." I was so excited but thought maybe it was a fluke so I tried again and to my surprise he returned the ball the same way. I got super excited and made Daddy get out of bed to watch us play catch. When Daddy came to watch we started to play again and he returned the ball by pushing it with both hands on either side of the ball again, and a few times he smacked it with the back of his hands until it rolled to me. Each time he did this I would clap and say "You did it" which of course made him happy and excited. After a little while he got bored and wanted to play with his truck. I have to say it was a proud moment for Mommy to experience a learning moment with my son!!
Nov 4th:
As I said a few days ago Dominic is on a anti-veggie kick. I got worried about him only eating fruits so I called my Baby expert The Great Grandma Nan and asked what I should do. She suggested I give him a couple bites of fruit and then sneak in a bite of veggies. I tried this but my keen son caught on so I tried a little variation to this technique. I put a bite of peas on the spoon and and bite of apricot all at the same time and gave it to him thinking "its a long shot but why not try it." You will never believe this but that child absolutely loved it! He wanted more! He ended up eating 3 icecubes worth of peas ( I make my own food remember) a whole 4 oz tub of apricot, was still hungry so he then had a 6 oz jar of citrus baby yogurt, and a handful of his whole wheat cheerios!!
Nov 5th:
Today we went to the mall to take in Daddy's PS3 to see if we could get it fixed. Dominic absolutely loves the mall. He gets to be in his "Ride", that is what we call his giant but awesome stroller we got. Not only is he cruising in his ride but he gets to look at all the people and get all people's attention. Every time a girl or child walked by there were "Awe look at the cute baby" and naturally Dominic would smile at them or shy away either way it would get him more attention. I have a warning to all the little girls Dominic's age when they are older: Beware of Dominic he is already a little charmer, and he will one day be breaking the hearts all over the place. He is just like his Daddy and knows how to turn on the charm which is going to get him into some trouble one day just ask his Daddy!!
Well there you go all caught up for this month now to keep up with it this time. As I said with my new phone I have been keeping notes of happenings and am able to post from my phone so even if there are no pics at the time of posting I should post daily. Please check back often to keep up on Naps and Nipples: a Day in the Life of Dominic Stack!!
Well I am trying something new and hopefully it works because it would make life so much simpler for me. I am going to try to make my Naps and Nipples post from my phone I will go back and add pics when I get a chance, if that happens I will be sure to say so on the next post so you can go back and see. Well Dominic is still awake and crying again so g'night for now...

Naps and Nipples: July 25th
July 25th- My silly boy
Tonight Dominic was chilling out with Daddy watching TV and telling his Daddy all about his day. He was laying on Daddy’s lap when he turned him self sideways and started watching TV with his head upside down. It was so funny because Daddy would move him and he would put himself right back in that spot and continue to watch TV that way. I swear my boy is a dork! But a sweet and adorable dork!

Naps and Nipples: July 23rd and 24th
Today Mommy was so excited. Dominic finally decided he liked Tummy time. He played on his boppy for over an half hour. As of late Dominic plays more than half of the day. He is getting more and more coordinated everyday. We have so much fun each and every day!!
July24th- Shopping Cart Fun
Today we decided rather than going into town we would just grocery shop at our local Mom n Pop Shop. They have small grocery carts so Mommy and Daddy put Dominic in the cart in the front part like a big boy. Mommy had to hold his back since he still can’t sit up by himself just yet. Dominic had a blast. It was a whole new view for him. He held on to the front of the cart and just looked around at everything. Dominic is getting to be such a big boy!
Naps and Nipples: July 22nd
July 22nd- I’m gonna get you
Today Mommy and Dominic had a blast together. We put a big sheet on the floor again and sat down to play with Dominic’s toys. Mommy put all Dominic’s toys in a plastic bin that we turn on it side so Dominic can pick which toys he wants. Today he was all about his spiral rattle. While in a sitting position he would bend basically in half and reach out to get his rattle and once he got a hold of it he would shake it like crazy. He hits himself in the head all the time and anymore it doesn’t phase him at all.
While playing on the sheet Mommy had Dominic sitting between her legs. I was talking to my Mother on the phone and felt him swaying, it was then I realized he was holding himself in the sitting position all by himself. None of his body was touching me; he was sitting up all by himself!! I was so excited!! Mommy and Daddy will have to get him a Bumbo seat I bet he will love it!
As we have in the past Mommy put Dominic’s animal booties on. (Which are getting too small.) He loves to play with the booties; tonight he was very picky about those booties. Like yesterday he would put the bootie in his mouth. I noticed he only put the right foot in that had the elephant on it. Out of curiosity I switched the booties to opposite feet and he just stared at them and tried to get the monkey but lost interest very quickly. Mommy then switched them back and as soon as he noticed the elephant was back on his right foot POP right into the mouth it went. I imagine he likes the elephant because it is easy to get a hold of by why just the right foot, I guess we will never know.
Naps and Nipples: July 21st
July21st- Too much fun!
Dominic was a real hoot today. Mommy and Dominic got out a sheet and laid it on the living room floor so we would have lots of play space. While sitting up facing Mommy Dominic would lean forward and bury his face on Mommy. When I turned him facing out he did the same thing to the boppy. I know he HATES tummy time but since he was doing this burying his face thing I thought I would try laying him on his belly. At first he just laid there staring at the toys and the he started scooting. It’s hard to describe he was almost crawling without using his arms; he would just move his legs back and forth and scoot on his belly. He went about 2 feet and got upset so that was the end of tummy time for awhile. Mommy was amazed at this mostly because it’s a good sign and maybe just maybe he will begin to enjoy tummy time soon, and who knows maybe even crawl!
Later in the afternoon Dominic was playing in his pack and play while Mommy was making up bottles. He had his animal booties on and out of corner of my eye I thought I saw him put his foot in his mouth. My eyes weren’t deceiving me he was putting his foot in his mouth, rather the animal on the bootie but his toes where in there just the same. Mommy took off the booties and he tried to get his feet to his mouth and pretty much did but I guess it just wasn’t as much fun as the animals so I put them back on and Dominic entertained himself for nearly an half hour!
Naps and Nipples: July 20th
July 20th- Little stinker
Today Dominic tried a new baby food flavor, carrots. He wasn’t sure about them at first but after a few bites he devoured his cereal. He has spit up more than he has lately but that could be due to the fact that keeping Dominic still after eating is next to impossible. He is so playful lately he is always wiggling around or his fingers are shoved in his mouth.
During dinner time Dominic was laying in his Pack n Play playing away with his Horsey. He was having such a good time. The Horsey is as big as him but he can hold on to the neck and hooves and slobber all over the nose.
Here lately Dominic has been squealing, holler, and screaming when he is playing. We were on the phone with his Nan when he started this. I bet we didn’t hear half of the conversation due to how loud he got. He really got excited when he Deedaw talked to him on the phone. Afterward we called Grandma Theresa so she could hear and he stopped until right when we hung up the phone. He can be such a little stinker at times when we are trying to share with the family.

Naps and Nipples: July 19th
July 19th- Pack n Play
Because Dominic is getting so big we can no longer us the bassinet to lay him in when Mommy has to use the restroom or whatnot. Tonight we got out the Pack n Play, cleaned it up from being packed away for so long and laid him in it. It didn’t bother him so we tried again while Mommy and Daddy where making dinner. We sat him up in the corner and put the boppy around him so he could sit up by himself. This worked pretty good for a while but after throwing his frog out of his reach he toppled over trying to get it back. Mommy was so proud of him for playing all by himself, and happy that I have somewhere to put him for a little while so I can get some house chores done and got to the bathroom.
Naps and Nipples: July 18th
July 18th- One Playful Baby
Dominic slept 8 hours today!! He woke up at 4 because he was cold. He lifts his legs and the blanket ends up around his belly so he usually wakes up once needed to be recovered. He went back to sleep and didn’t wake up until 7. He had a bottle and went right back to sleep. At 8 this morning Mommy got woke up by squealing sounds. Dominic was wide awake playing in his crib. I came in, turned on his mobile, and sat down in the rocking chair next to the crib. Dominic squealed, and hollered, pulled his legs in the air, talked to the mobile animals, and giggled for nearly an hour and a half. I waited to see if he would put himself back to sleep but he just wasn’t able to, so Mommy picked up her sleepy fussy baby. After rocking him to sleep I myself went back to sleep at about 10. Daddy woke up at 11 when Dominic decided he was hungry again and without Mommy knowing got up and feed Dominic. He also took care of him until Mommy woke up from some much needed sleep.
Tonight during Dominic night cereal time Mommy tried something new. Instead of putting the baby food in with the cereal I tried giving it to him alone. He loved it! He ate nearly ½ bottle of squash, then had 2 tablespoons of cereal and almost 4 ounces of formula. He must have been a hungry baby. Now the entire time Mommy was feeding Dominic he had his legs in the air with his hands holding on to his toes. He would drop a foot every now and again when he got tired and would lift it right back up. He is such a goofball today, even more than usual!!
Another goofy thing Dominic did today was during bath time. While bathing him, he had both hands in his mouth making the silliest sounds. If he didn’t have both hands he had a few fingers of one hand and the fist of the other. Dominic was such a playful boy today, and naturally a big ol mess!
Naps and Nipples: July 17th
Dominic is 5 months old today!! I can’t believe it; it seems like just yesterday we brought him home. He is getting so big and more interactive each day.
I cannot believe how dirty and messy a baby can get. It was an extremely hot day so Dominic was just in his diaper; Mommy hates this but Dominic sweats so much. All day long he was munching on either his hands or Mommy’s, playing with his feet, getting cereal all over the place, slobbering everywhere, blowing baby bubbles and just drooling all over. By the end of the day he was so Yucky! A bath was definitely needed even though he was extremely tired. Dominic ended up going to bed at 11:30 last night. He woke up once I ended up bringing him in the living room with Mommy and Daddy where we were watching a movie he went right to sleep instantly. I think he just wanted to be with his Mommy. After about an hour I put him back in his crib where he is currently still asleep!

Naps and Nipples: July 16th
July 16th-SNORT!
Tonight just after a nice big bowl of cereal, Mommy decided to play a little game where she would put her hands over Dominic’s ears and ask “Dominic, can you hear me?” and then pull her hands away and ask “how about now?” After a couple of rounds of the game Dominic started to catch on, thought it was fun, and started to giggle. Every time Mommy would pull her hands away, Dominic would giggle a little harder. This of course got Mommy and Daddy laughing, and then that’s where the real fun started. Mommy started laughing so hard that she snorted, yes she actually snorted, and Dominic thought that was even more funny than the game. Mommy’s snort turned his cute little giggle into a fairly loud fit of laughter, which in turn, turned the Daddy’s laugh into an even louder fit of laughter. Realizing that even Dominic laughs at her quirky little snort made Mommy laugh and snort so hard that she was having a hard time breathing. We are starting to think that Dominic is going to be even more of a little pain in the butt for Mommy than previously anticipated. He is DEFINITELY his Daddy’s son.
Speaking of Daddy, he disappeared with Dominic for a little bit and when he came back Mommy got a sweet little surprise. Dominic had on a bandana just like Daddy. It was so cute, they looked so much alike!

Naps and Nipples: July 15th
Dominic was laying on the couch just chilling while Mommy was trying to upload pictures and Daddy was standing behind the couch watching him. I started to hear Dominic’s laugh and over at the couch to see what was going on. The Daddy was tossing his shirt over the couch, pulling it back up and doing it again. Dominic got a kick out of this. He laughed and laughed every time his Daddy tossed the shirt over the couch. It was the cutest thing, and luckily Mommy caught some of it on video!!
Today Dominic also hung out with his buddle Khaos. Khaos was being such a good sport letting us put Dominic on him, or next to him. Later after Khaos got tired of us Daddy had Dominic standing up in front of his legs, he let go of him for a second and Dominic stood up on his own!! It didn’t take long and Daddy put his hands back on his to help he stand. Wow I can’t believe how strong those little legs are!

Naps and Nipples: July 14th
Naps and Nipples: July 12th & 13th
Dominic laughed out loud today for the longest amount of time yet. Dominic and Daddy where playing on the couch while Mommy was on the computer. Mommy started hearing Dominic’s sweet little laugh and noticed it kept going. After a little while I jumped up and grabbed the voice recorder and luckily Dominic was in a very playful mood. Daddy started tickling Dominic again and I caught about a minute of absolutely adorable laughter. We had to call the Grandparents and have them listen to it. While playing it for Nan Dominic was getting a kick out of listening to himself! A baby’s laughter is the sweetest thing, but your own son’s laughter is the best sound in the entire world!
July 13th- The apple of my eye, or in my eye?
Dominic slept 7 hours straight!! He slept from 3-10, had a bottle and has only been up long enough to eat the rest of the day. He must be growing again!
Tonight Dominic must have been super hungry. He had his normal 3 tablespoons of cereal/baby food, and he was still hungry so we tried the applesauce all by its self. He seemed to really like it, he would smile and then after a bite smack his lips and make a pucker face. I think it was a little bit sour to him. During the entire feeding we had cereal and baby food everywhere!! He had it on Mommy, his hands, head, face, and he nearly got it in his eye when he went to rub his sleepy eyes.
Mommy cleaned up Dominic sponge bath style because Dominic is just too tired to try to give him a bath. He has tried to fall asleep in the bath before and tonight he can’t even keep his eyes open. Maybe he will go to bed at a normal time and not wake up at 1 and stay up til 3… we will see!!
Naps and Nipples: July 11th
July 11th- New Routines
These past two days have basically been the same thing. We are on a routine/schedule now, not an ideal one but a routine/schedule non the less.
Here it is from breakfast:
9:30 bottle and either ½ playtime or right back to sleep. Noon wake up for Lunch, and stay up until about 1:30ish. He takes about an hour and half nap. When he is good and awake he is ready for cereal. He has about 2 ounces of milk then 3 tablespoons of cereal mixed with applesauce. He stays up for about 2 more hours and sleeps about 5 and is up in time for us to start dinner. He has a bottle and then chills in his bouncy chair watching Mommy and usually Daddy make dinner. He has been letting Mommy eat dinner lately, quickly but a hot meal is still a hot meal! After Mommy’s dinner it’s usually bottle time, and then an hour later at 9ish we have cereal again. We chill for about 45 minutes and off to the bath we go. Depending on how tired he is he either stays up and has a bottle or goes right to sleep. No matter when he goes to sleep he wakes up at 1am or 2am and is up until 3am or 4am. From this point the cycle starts all over again. It’s a crazy routine but it seems to work for him and he has been sleeping 6 hours a night, then another 2 or 3 after the breakfast feeding!!
We did have fun again today as a family. Dominic sat with Daddy on the floor watching TV. Later Daddy put Dominic in between his legs and he sat there for quite some time. Dominic loves to stand up so natural he did just that! A while later while playing on his boppy Mommy had fun taking lots of pictures of him playing with his feet.
Naps and Nipples: July 10th
Today both Daddy and Dominic where dressed in Camo. Daddy got out the wii gun while holding Dominic and got him to hold it and play with it. It was so darn cute, Mommy took lots of pictures of the hunter in training!
Dominic and Daddy continued to play have a fun time while Mommy was having a blast taking pictures. The Family all had a really great day spending time with each other!!

Naps and Nipples: July 7th, 8th, & 9th
While laying on Daddy, Dominic was getting fussy. Daddy started singing Coolio’s Gangsters Paradise to Dominic and he just looked up at him and stared quietly the entire time. Now when Dominic is fussy I am bringing him to Daddy to get sang to!
Tonight Mommy and Daddy finally got Dominic’s room all together. His crib is now in there as well as the rocking chair. I think he will start to sleep in the crib better if we are around. He only sleeps there now if I am in the room with him, so here’s crossing our fingers.
Mommy had a really hard time at first not having Dominic in the room with me. I was so worried I wouldn’t wake up when he did. It took me an extra 20 before going to bed because I would sit in the rocker, stand by the crib, walk out of the room and walk back in again. The Daddy offered to sleep in Dominic’s room if it would make me feel better. As sweet as that was to offer I couldn’t let him do it and finally decided to go to our own room.
July8th- A Good Night’s Sleep
Wow last night went fantastic. I slept so well, and I woke up nearly as soon as Dominic did. The best part is he slept for 5 hours straight!! Unfortunately I am still on old Dominic time and didn’t go to bed til way to late but I did get a good 4 hours in. He also took a nap only about an hour after he had his breakfast and so did Mommy. Our nap was another 3 hours of sleep! The worst part is I was more tired than on hardly any sleep, go figure right.
I love having Dominic’s crib in his room, because his room is basically the central part of the house. I was able to put him in his crib for naps, which meant I could do some scrapbooking, dishes or check in on my facebook. Before he would only sleep on the couch that meant Mommy was sitting right next to him or only a few inches or maybe feet away. I think Dominic likes to take naps in his crib because he was asleep more than awake today.
July9th- Night Owl
Its 2am and Dominic is wide awake. Here lately he has been going to sleep around 11:00-11:30ish like normal and then waking up at 1am and up until about 3am. This is the 3rd day he has done this. The first two I thought maybe with the weather and the changes it messed up his schedule. Apparently this is his new schedule.
Well after the late night/early morning bedtime, Dominic slept 6 hours, with no wakes ups!! I couldn’t believe it. At about 9 he woke up and ready for a bottle. He was awake for about an hour and went back to sleep for another 3 hours. I was able to get so much done and take a nap myself!!
Naps and Nipples: July 4th, 5th, & 6th
We didn’t really do much for the holiday since Dominic is still too young to pay attention to the fireworks. We did go to a very yummy BBQ at our friend’s Cassie and Travis’s house. Dominic was wide awake and very interested in all the new sites, and on occasion he would notice Ryker and stare at him for a short time and then be sidetracked by something on the wall or the kitty cat.
When we got home Dominic had a very fun bath time. He is getting to were each night he splashes a little more and wants to stay in a little longer. He loves his bath times and now I have to get him to stop playing so I can actually wash him. While in the tub his Daddy was talking to him and he laughed out loud at him. He is always laughing and smiling really big at his Daddy, but who can blame him, his Daddy is a big dork. I guess the saying is true…. Like Father, Like Son!!
July 5th- I can do it all by myself…sorta!
Dominic is starting to find sitting positions where he doesn’t need support to keep up. When sitting on Mommy or Daddy’s lap he can generally sit up with out our help. If he bend over to touch he toes he can do it while sitting on the couch all by himself. I can’t believe how babies develop from day to day, he will be in school before I know it at this rate!
July 6th- Changes
Dominic’s day was full of changes. We officially packed up the last of his newborn clothes and are in size 0-3’s! A new formula and baby food was introduced today. Dominic has a big spit up issue. He spits up all day long so we are now going to try the Similac less spit up formula. As of right now we are doing half of his old formula and half new so it won’t upset his stomach too much, and eventually I will wean him off of the old formula completely to see how well the spit up kind works. We ran out of applesauce and went ahead and tried the sweet potato. He didn’t seem to care for it too much at first, he did eat all his cereal eventually, but it is definitely not his favorite just yet.
On top of food changes, we also changed diapers. Wal-Mart was out of Pampers so we bought Huggies and we moved up to size 2. The size 1 still fit but are getting to be snug, the size 2 fit really well, and they have a mess catcher which should be interesting.
Dominic had many changes in his life today but as I knew he would, he adjusted perfectly! I know its early but I swear the new formula is going to work because he hasn’t spit up yet, here’s crossing our fingers!!
Naps and Nipples: July 2nd and 3rd
Dominic got an extra special treat today…applesauce. Thanks to the advice of his Great-Grandma Nan Mommy added applesauce to Dominic’s cereal, and he absolutely loved it!! He ate 3 tablespoon worth of food. Normally at cereal time it’s a huge mess, He plays and talks, but not today. He ate with a little chatter but mostly he just wanted his cereal. We are going to do the two cereal times with the applesauce and in about 3 days switch it up with some sweet potatoes. Wow I can’t believe my little boy is eating solid foods!!
July 3rd- Laugh out loud.
Today Dominic’s Daddy finally got a little of the medicine that Mommy gets on a daily basis. Dominic spit up all over him twice and then while sitting on him made a nice little stinky. Mommy laughed so hard because it was about time he got to enjoy the mess!
Aside from messing all over Daddy, Dominic made Mommy super happy today. He Laughed Out Loud at me. It was a squeeze the heart moment that nearly made me cry. It was that generic baby laugh you hear on the commercials, absolutely adorable and perfect!!
Naps and Nipples: July 1st
July 1st- Built in toys
Dominic had a pretty good day today. He played and played. Dominic is completely fascinated by his feet. Mommy put his booties on with the jingle animals which made Dominic very happy. This afternoon he realized there are animals on those booties and for the next 5 hours had his feet in the air as much as he could handle. He would try to grab the animals, and succeeded many times, it was so cute and funny to watch him play with his feet.
Along with a good day he also had an aggravating day. Dominic has been trying so hard to sit up on his own but can’t quite get it. He can sit up about ¼ of the way and gets frustrated. Poor little guy grunts and groans the whole time as he tries to sit up. If you hold his hands he can sit up, but he gets mad at us if we don’t help and make him do it on his own. It takes him a little while but if Mommy and Daddy are holding on to his hands he sits right up.
Between Dominic hands, feet and urge to sit up, he has no need for actual toys which the exception of frog. Dominic entertains himself for hours… as long as Mommy is close by to watch him, otherwise he gets upset.
Naps and Nipples: June 29th & 30th
Dominic loves to be tickled, especially by is Daddy. Daddy tickles his “fat roll” the spot under his chin and his toad tummy. Dominic giggles when he does this but when I tickle him he usual just gives me that big open mouth grin. Today however he laughed out loud when I tickled him!! I nearly cried from sheer happiness!
June 30th- Splish Splash I was taking a bath…
For most of the day Dominic was munching on his Mommy’s fingers. Dominic has a jaws of steel according to his Daddy and I agree. When he munches on my fingers it hurts but sometimes he clamps down so hard I nearly scream and we stop. I warned him when he gets teeth there will be no more Mommy finger time!
Bath time was so much fun tonight. Dominic had himself a little splash fest. He splashed around so much he soaked my pants, and the floor. We added another bottle for him to kick and that made him so happy. He kicked and kicked, splash and splashed until he was pruny. I finally had to just start washing him before he shriveled up and before the water got too cold. All that playing made him super tired, he didn’t even have time for his night bottle until about 2 am.
